This October, get ready to experience the first ever World Expo conducted in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA), where the world comes together to reimagine tomorrow. With over 200 participants that include countries, businesses, educational institutions and more the Expo 2020 has prepared to create the most diverse experience that offers immersive cultural experiences and highlights the uniqueness of each country through their dedicated pavilions.

Qatar’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, created under the theme ‘Qatar: The Future is Now’, reflects the country's pioneering position in leading change, considering its vision and experiences.

Based on the belief that uniting the world can catalyse the exchange of new perspectives to make the world a better place, the much-awaited Expo 2020 Dubai, is created around its core theme: Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.

The universal exhibition of Expo 2020 centers on the three sub-themes - sustainability, mobility and opportunity that aim to inspire visitors from around the world to preserve and protect the planet, explore new frontiers and build a better future. Experience the essence of these themes all through the participating pavilions from 191 countries, various Expo partners and other thematic signature pavilions spread across three distinct streets named after the sub-themes.

The Qatar pavilion at Expo 2021 Qatar’s story to life

The Qatar pavilion at Expo 2020 is set to welcome the world and join hands in creating a sustainable future while taking every step to make the world a better place. Located within the Sustainability district, the Qatar pavilion is set to symbolize its progressive outlook of the future while remaining true to its culture and heritage. Experience the vision of the nation as you interact with our immersive and informative pavilion.

Having drawn inspiration from the coat of arms of Qatar, the Qatar pavilion is architecture as a modern interpretation of the 4 elements that are at the core of the national emblem of the State of Qatar;

- the two crossed and curved swords, encompassing a Dhow and

- an island with two palm trees

The Qatar Pavilion serves as an architectural beacon at this world-class exhibition mirrors the state’s pioneering vigour, harmonious sense of giving, and powerful character while paying tribute to the mightiest swords and sails representative of the country’s history and culture.

1. The Dhow showcased in an ascending geometric form represents the wafting form of the Dhow’s sails. 

2. The palm trees that create an abstract fusion of entwined palm trees is manifested through the sculptural monument.

3. The swords represented by the intertwining Dhows encompasses the building form.

4. The integrated water features of the Qatar pavilion represent the Arabian Gulf encompassing Qatar.

For over a century World Expo has been known to have provided a platform to showcase and elevate innovations that paved way for growth and transformation in this world. Begun in 1851, the World Expo took place in London, England and was called the Great Exhibition that was created for different nations to come together to showcase the latest innovative solutions to the problems of the time.

The Expo is held every five years and lasts up to six months creating an impact that lasts much longer and makes a difference. 

Qatar Pavilion at Expo 2017 - Astana

In 2017, the Qatar pavilion adopted a simple and imaginative approach by creating interesting levels of exhibits within a small footprint. The design encouraged visitors to meander through Qatar’s energy landscape on escalating slopes with animated walls before allowing them to immerse into specific projects. Multi-sensory galleries equipped with vision-scopes and mirrored video mosaics to the visitors as they spiral their way to the end of the pavilion.

Qatar Pavilion at Expo 2015 - Milan

In 2015, the Qatar pavilion represented the urban layout of traditional markets, or souqs, emulating the internal paths carved out to pave the way from one kiosk to another. The pavilion staged the latest technologies in a holistic, interactive and informative experience: it created an oasis of innovation, invention, energy, industry and green technologies.
