The holy month of Ramadan is here and as part of welcoming the much-awaited occasion, you are invited to immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Qatari culture through engaging workshops and hands-on activities for all ages. Each day brings a new opportunity to share joyful moments with loved ones, discover talented artisans and savour local flavours.
Managed by Souq Al Wakra Hotel, visitors can sample a variety of food options, including an Arabic cuisine corner.
Browse fashion, crafts, textiles, homeware, perfumes and handmade toys at more than 40 stalls, where you’ll get to meet talented craftspeople and artisans.
Enjoy free workshops and activities for the whole family and learn more about Qatari arts, crafts and traditions. These include calligraphy, incense making, palm weaving, clay moulding, body oil and kohl making, painting Islamic patterns and seedling workshops.
Enjoy special movie screenings under the stars and right next to the ocean, catering to children and adults. Films will centre around Islamic and Arabic culture, and entry is free.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Endowment and Al Baraka Association, there will be two lectures and conferences per week. Young and old can learn about the spiritual significance, traditions, and practices that make Ramadan a special time for Muslims worldwide. Entry is free and each lecture lasts one hour, hosted in English or Arabic.
The only heritage market in Qatar overlooking the ocean, Al Wakrah Souq was built on the ruins of the old town of Al Wakrah city – estimated to be more than 200 years old. Explore the many charming shops and restaurants on the waterfront, visit the camel and horse stables and look out for landmarks like the Seashell sculpture.
A hidden gem of Qatar, Heenat Salma Farm welcomes guests who respect nature. It is known for its stunning beauty, organic produce and wellness activities. Take part in weaving or pottery workshops, go on a farm tour, dine at the farm-to-table restaurant and stay at the serene tented lodges.
A host of events and festivities are taking place, bringing people together to honour the month of Ramadan.
