2021

2021 – Qatar OOREDOO World Padel Championship

This biennial international competition took place in Doha from 15 to 20 November 2021.

2008

2008 – Stadium extension

The stadium was renovated with its initial seat capacity of 4500 increased to 7000 – ideal for major championships. 

2006

Asian Olympic Games

The tennis championship of this multi-sport event was hosted from 4-14 December 2006, with India finishing first in the medal table for the first time with two gold medals. Doha will host the Games once again in 2030.

2001

First WTA Qatar Open

The first Ladies Open is hosted at the hosted, where Martina Hingis took the victory over Sandrine Testud.

1993

First ATP Qatar Open

The first-ever ATP Men’s Open Tournament took place at the stadium, with Boris Becker beating Goran Ivanišević.
