Your privacy is very important to Visit Qatar (“we” or “us) and we understand how important it is to you. We want you to feel safe when visiting our Website, as defined in our Terms and Conditions, attending our events or using our services and are committed to maintaining your privacy and protect your data when you do. 

This Privacy Notice (“Privacy Notice”), together with our Terms and Conditions, our Cookie Policy and any other documents referred to herein, sets out the basis on which we process any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us. We aim to be transparent about how we collect, store and use your data.

This Privacy Notice can be changed over time to comply with law or to meet our changing business requirements. We will inform you appropriately of any relevant changes to this Privacy Notice. Subject to applicable laws, the English version of this Privacy Notice will prevail over any version of this Privacy Notice in another language. 

The Controller of your personal data is Visit Qatar, with its registered office at P.O. Box 24624 Doha, State of Qatar. We are the official tourism organization for Qatar, promoting the country's attractions, culture, and events to international visitors.

This Policy is intended to help you understand:

This Policy applies to all external parties, including visitors of Visit Qatar’s Websites and recipients of the newsletters (namely, “you”). Visit Qatar Website

1. WHAT INFORMATION DOES VISIT QATAR COLLECT ABOUT YOU, FOR WHAT PURPOSES AND UNDER WHAT LEGAL GROUNDS

The types of information that Visit Qatar collects will depend on the nature of your dealings with Visit Qatar and its services and may include your name and contact details.

In particular:

  • If you are a traveler or tourist who registers to receive e-newsletters from Visit Qatar, your name, address, email address, age group, information about what type of holiday you are looking for and approximate month of travel will be collected. This is so Visit Qatar can provide you with material likely to be of interest to you. We collect and process this data based on your consent.
  • If you start a chat with us on our Website, we will collect the personal data you provide us with in the chat. We process this data to respond to the chat, based on your consent.
  • If you contact us using our web form, we will collect your full name, email address, phone number, the subject of your contact request and the content of your message. We collect and process this data to respond to your enquiry, based on your consent and/or our legitimate interest.
  • If you create a Visit Qatar account, we will collect your email address and your full name. We will process this data to create your account, based on your consent.
  • When you use our Website, we will collect your IP address, as further described in the section about cookies and our Cookie Policy. We collect this data based on your consent.

2. HOW DOES VISIT QATAR COLLECT INFORMATION ABOUT YOU

Visit Qatar conducts a large part of its operations in digital channels (Website and email).

We collect information about you when you provide it to us when you use our Website, our services, and when other sources provide it to us, as further described below.

Account and Profile Information
We collect information about you when you create or modify your newsletter profile and related preferences.

Visit Qatar Websites
We may collect data about you via the Websites. For example, you provide data to us when you subscribe to a newsletter (e.g. through a Visit Qatar Website). Furthermore, when you use the Websites, we may collect certain personal data via cookies and tracking technologies, as further described below.

Enquiries and complaints

When you make an enquiry or complaint to Visit Qatar (including by email), Visit Qatar will collect your name, address and/or email address and details about the complaint.

Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies
Visit Qatar and our third-party partners, such as our advertising and analytics partners, use cookies and other tracking technologies (e.g. pixels) to provide functionality and to recognize you across different services and devices.

If you use Visit Qatar’s Websites, some information about you is recorded via cookies and/or tracking technologies for web personalisation, research and statistical and reporting purposes as well as to allow Visit Qatar to improve its Websites and services. Visit Qatar also uses cookies and session tools to improve your experience when visiting its sites. The information collected may include your IP address, the referring site and the pages visited on Visit Qatar's site. IP addresses are logged to track a user's session while the user remains anonymous. Visit Qatar analyses this data for certain trends and statistics, such as which parts of Visit Qatar Websites users are visiting and how long they spend there. In general, you can browse Visit Qatar's Websites anonymously or revealing any personal information about yourself. However, there are times when Visit Qatar may need to collect your personal information. 

Where it is practicable, you may choose to remain anonymous or adopt a pseudonym when dealing with Visit Qatar.

3. TO WHOM VISIT QATAR DISCLOSES INFORMATION ABOUT YOU

Visit Qatar will only use and disclose personal information for the purpose for which it is collected, or otherwise in accordance with the applicable privacy and data protection laws and regulations.

We may disclose any data about you: (i) in order to comply with the legal obligations we are subject to; (ii) in order to correctly deliver our services; or (iii) to our service providers that provide us a service in relation to the data. 

We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and to process it in accordance with the law. We do not allow our third-party service providers to use your personal data for their own purposes and only permit them to process it data for specific purposes and in accordance with our instructions.

4. HOW VISIT QATAR STORES AND SECURES INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Visit Qatar Systems

Visit Qatar takes security of personal data seriously and has implemented a range of physical and electronic security measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, use, modification, disclosure or misuse including the implementation of firewalls.

Electronic records of personal information collected by Visit Qatar are stored in databases that are hosted on servers in Qatar.

Visit Qatar Websites

Visit Qatar strives to ensure the security, integrity and privacy of personal information submitted to its Websites, and periodically updates its security measures in light of current technologies. You need to be aware of inherent risks associated with the transmission of information via the Internet. Visit Qatar cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any personal information you submit to its Websites. If you have concerns in this regard, Visit Qatar has other ways of obtaining and providing information. Postal services and phone are available.

Visit Qatar Websites may also be linked to Websites operated by third parties. These links are meant for your convenience only. Links to third party Websites do not constitute sponsorship, endorsement or approval of these Websites. Visitors to those Websites should refer to their separate privacy policies and practices, e.g. Google Analytics and Adobe packages.

5. HOW LONG DOES VISIT QATAR STORE  YOUR DATA

Visit Qatar will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. To determine the appropriate retention period for personal data, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of your personal data, the purposes for which we process your personal data and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal requirements. Generally speaking, we retain you personal data for one year.

6. YOUR DATA  PRIVACY RIGHTS AND HOW TO EXERCISE THEM

Your rights.  You have a number of rights under data protection laws in relation to your data. You have the right to:

  • withdraw consent when we process your data based on your consent;
  • object to our processing of your personal data, in certain circumstances;
  • have your personal data erased;
  • request correction of any inaccurate personal data we hold about you;
  • be notified of inaccurate disclosure;
  • access the personal data we process about you, meaning that you can be informed of the processing activities we perform and their purposes, if any inaccurate disclosure of the data and obtain a copy of your personal data (upon payment of a fee).

If your personal data is protected under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, you can exercise the following data subjects rights:

  • Request access
  • Request erasure
  • Request rectification
  • Object to processing 
  • Request the restriction of processing 
  • Request a copy of your data
  • Withdraw your consent at any time.

How to exercise them. You can exercise your rights set out above by submit a written request to the address or email address set out in the ‘Contact Us’ section. Visit Qatar may require you to verify your identity before we take action to make your rights effective. Visit Qatar will respond to your request within 90 days (if your data are protected by the GDPR, we will respond within one month).

If Visit Qatar refuses to provide you with access to your personal information or to correct that information as you request, it will provide you with reasons for that refusal and information about how to make a complaint. If Visit Qatar refuses to correct your personal information, IT will take reasonable steps to associate a statement with your personal information that you consider the information to be inaccurate.

7. MANAGING CONSENT 

If at any time after submitting your personal data to us and providing your consent you want us to stop processing the data (e.g. you no longer want to receive newsletter) you can withdraw your consent. If you wish to delete your registered account or unsubscribe to Visit Qatar communications such as newsletters, you may do so by following the "unsubscribe" directions at the end of any email communications you receive (for stopping newsletters), or contacting us using the contact details listed in the ‘Contact Us’ section of this Policy. To ensure we have the correct information, please include your registered email address, first name and last name, and requested change.  For example:

Email:  janedoe@email.com
First and last name:  Jane Doe
Requested change:  Please delete my account on visitqatar.com.

We will endeavour to reply to your email request within 90 business days.

You may withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data at any time—for example, if you no longer wish to receive our newsletter. You have three options:

Self-service profile deletion

  • Web: Go to Personal Settings ▸ Delete Profile.
  • Mobile app: Open My Profile ▸ Delete Profile.
     Deleting your profile erases all associated data from Visit Qatar systems, including stored preferences, engagement history, and any push-notification device identifiers.

Unsubscribe from marketing communications
 Click the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any email you receive from us to stop newsletters and similar messages.

Contact us directly
 Write to the address in the “Contact Us” section of this Policy, stating:

  • Email: your registered address
  • Full name: first and last
  • Request: e.g., “Please delete my account on visitqatar.com.”

We will act on your request and confirm completion typically within 90 business days.

8. COMPLAINTS

You have the right to submit complaints around our personal data practices to the Qatari National Cyber Governance and Assurance Affairs, by sending an email to privacy@ncsa.gov.qa. We would, however, appreciate the chance to deal with your concerns before you approach the Qatari National Cyber Governance and Assurance Affairs so please contact us in the first instance by sending an email to out email address set out below. We will endeavor to respond to your complaint within 90 days.
