Held annually, the Doha Diamond League is a one-day track and field event that attracts the finest athletic talent from around the globe. First held in 1997 with only men’s events, women’s events were added the following year. Since then, the event has continued to grow, becoming a key fixture in the global athletics schedule and the season opener of the Diamond League series.
Expect an exhilarating lineup of events, from sprints, hurdles and pole vaulting to steeplechase, long jumps, and javelin throwing. Check out the official programme for a detailed schedule of the day’s events.
Inaugurated in 1984 and also known as Qatar SC Stadium, Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium is a multi-purpose venue that can accommodate up to 15,000 spectators. It predominantly hosts football matches, serving as the home ground for the Qatar Sports Club and many high-profile sports events – including some of the matches from the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.
