Qatar’s sophisticated public transportation makes it easy to go sightseeing in the city and explore all that Doha has to offer. From HIA, you can take the Doha Metro and the connecting tram network to all the city’s most iconic sights. Here is a list of five things we highly recommend you try.
1. Learn about our history at the National Museum of Qatar
Spanning over 430,500 square feet with a striking façade inspired by natural desert crystal formations, embark on a visual journey of Qatar through interconnected galleries. The National Museum of Qatar (NMOQ) is built around the original palace of Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al-Thani.
2. Experience the famous Souq Waqif and Katara Cultural Village
Qatar’s authentic souq and bazaar, Souq Waqif is where Qatar’s residents love to shop and grab a bite. Take in this hotspot’s captivating sights, sounds and aromas, with the souq’s antique jewellery, oud, spices, and buzzing conversations rising from the many bustling cafés.
Next, make your way to Katara Cultural Village and visit one of the district’s many museums, galleries and public art displays. Take in the vibrant turquoise and purple mosaic tiles of the Katara Masjid and enjoy the cool sea breeze with a stroll across the promenade.
