Lawh Wa Qalam: M. F. Husain Museum, established by Qatar Foundation in Education City, celebrates the life, art, and enduring legacy of Maqbool Fida Husain, one of the most influential artists of the modern era. Spanning more than 3,000 square meters, the museum was inspired by a sketch drawn by Husain himself and brought to life by architect Martand Khosla. Across four galleries, visitors can explore the artist’s creative journey through paintings, personal belongings, archival materials, and multimedia installations. Highlights include Husain’s final works created in Qatar, the Arab Civilization series, and his last major masterpiece, Seeroo fi al ardh. Beyond the galleries, the museum offers a library, a creative studio hosting workshops and educational programs, a café, and the iconic Film Tower. Designed as a space where art, culture, and knowledge intersect, the museum invites visitors of all ages to discover the ideas, inspirations, and imagination that shaped Husain’s remarkable legacy.

  • Artist-Designed Architecture: The museum’s unique structure was designed by architect Martand Khosla, based directly on a 2008 sketch by M. F. Husain, featuring a distinct white cylindrical tower and deep-blue geometric pavilions.
  • Global Recognition: Shortly after its opening, the museum was officially named one of TIME's World's Greatest Places, cementing its status as a major global cultural landmark.
  • The "Seeroo fi al Ardh" Masterpiece: The museum is the permanent home of Husain's final and most ambitious kinetic installation, which uses mechanical horses, vintage cars, music, and film to tell the story of human progress.
  • The Arab Civilization Series: The gallery features the renowned Arab Civilization painting series which blends modernist expressionism with traditional Arabic calligraphy.
  • Comprehensive Personal Archive: The collection spans over 150 items, including large-scale tapestries, rare personal artifacts, writing tools, and an extensive archive of his poetry and cinematic work.
