The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ started implementing the Lusail International Circuit Upgrade Project in December 2022. The construction was completed ahead of the Formula 1® Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2023. The Lusail International Circuit also hosted its first-ever MENA Karting Championship. Additionally, McLaren created a Guinness World Record with a time of 1.80 seconds during the 2023 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix for Lando Norris's car for the fastest pitstop.

Lusail International Circuit proudly hosted the 2024 Qatar Airways Qatar 1812 KM – 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship Prologue and the Season-Opener. The event was named the Qatar 1812 KM in honour of the country's National Day.
Lusail International Circuit welcomed the return of Formula 1® to Qatar with a transformative renovation completed in 2023. The project introduced record-breaking facilities, including the world’s longest pitlane building (402.1m) with 50 pit boxes – the largest of any F1® circuit. Spectator capacity was expanded, with upgraded grandstands, new fan zones, and landscaped viewing areas such as Lusail Hill at Turn 1, offering fans unique perspectives on the action.
The renovation also delivered state-of-the-art infrastructure, including a new paddock and premium hospitality lounges, expanded parking, and modernized technical facilities meeting the highest FIA and FIM standards. Beyond international motorsport, LIC continues to serve as a hub for community engagement, hosting public track days, mixed training sessions for cycling, running, and grassroots motorsport programs that promote fitness, well-being, and education. These initiatives make Lusail International Circuit not only a world-class racing venue but pivotal for the local community.
A long-term deal secures the Qatar Grand Prix at Lusail through 2032, with the circuit now firmly established as a decisive late-season round.
